About the World Study Fund

The World Study Fund foundation was started in 2004 by Twin van Leeuwen, after he had visited countries like Nepal and Bangladesh.

Twin spent 5 months in Nepal, where he worked as a volunteer for INFO Nepal. This is a voluntary organization, which places volunteers as teachers in schools and libraries, as nurses or as social and health workers. Twin worked as an English Teacher in Chormara and Godawari. This is where he experienced the educational system in Nepal. Apart from his work as a teacher, he met a lot of children who were unable to go to school, mainly because the parents were too poor to pay the school fees.

In Bangladesh Twin spent some time in the Anglican Christian mission in Haluaghat. During his travels, which lasted a totle of eoght months, Twin got the idea to start the World Study Fund Foundation.

The board of directors consist of:

  • Chairman:
  • Secretary:
  • Treasurer:

Our contact person in Nepal is Dinesh Silwal. Dinesh is very concerned about the fate of the people in his village, Godawari, and the surrounding areas. Because of his social concerns, he is highly respected by local people. This makes Dinesh the ideal person to represent the World Study Fund in Nepal. His job consists of, amongst other things, registering children who are eligible for support by the World Study Fund, collect data about them, their parents and schools. children and contacting the parents and child about admission. He is also the main contact for the European team and the local volunteers. Our contact in Bangladesh is Reverent Philimon Chambugong, locally known as Padre Babu. Even though the mission is of Anglican Christian origin, all children, regardless of faith, are welcomed in the school.
